Cosmopolitan Foundation Canada Inc. invites you to participate in the Youth Scholarship Program. Launched as a celebration of Diabetes Month in November 2020, this program offers a total of three scholarships of $1,000 each, annually.

Preference is given to residents of the Western Canada Foundation - Cosmopolitan Internation Provinces including Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, however applications will be accepted from all provinces across Canada.

The scholarships will be given to successful applicants who are type 1 diabetic (T1D), are entering first year of post secondary education or registered to continue their post secondary education. Although not a requirement, favorable consideration will be given to applicants that exhibit a strong sense of community through volunteerism in their local, regional or national Diabetic Community.


PAWS PROGRAM

Cosmopolitan Foundation of Canada Inc invites you to participate in an effort to raise funds for diabetic alert dogs. You or someone you love may benefit from financial support for their diabetic alert dog, which is a service dog formally trained to detect sugar highs and lows in diabetics. If you would like to help an individual with diabetes with support for their diabetic alert dog, please make your donation today. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent of the law.

IN THE FALL OF 2022 The CFCI Board voted to suspend the program for the forseeable future due to lack of ASSISTANCE# REQUESTS.

In keeping with the program, the CFCI Board then voted to make a $10,000 donation to the Lion’s Club of Canada Dog Program in support of their Diabetes Assistance Dog Training Program. We thank all doners for their continued support of the PAWS Program and our support of the Lion’s Program will continue in the years to come.

RESEARCH FUNDING




In 2015, Cosmopolitan Foundation of Canada Inc. moved forward with a seven year agreement to support the Alberta Diabetes Foundation with an annual donation of $25,000 equalling a cummulative commitment of $175,000 over this period. These funds go to support a number of research projects in the areas of T1D treatments and cures. THis commitment was completed in September 2021


In the Fall of 2021, the CFCI Board voted to provide funding to a Research Program headed up at the ADI by Dr Jean Buteau. A Donation of $50,000 was presented to Dr Buteau on International Cosmo Day, Nov 6 2021.

Due to the early success of Dr. Buteau’s research, an subsuent donation of $50,000 to continue the support was presented to ADF and to Dr Buteau on Nov 5 2022 again celebrating International Cosmo Day.

To date, this donation totalling $100,000 has provided support to a project that has started the process of moving to Human Trials. The outcome, if successful is a treatment for type 1 diabetes that would eliminate the need for insulin and move to a single pill per day to manage the patients diabetes.
