We are excited to share that in celebration of INTERNATIONAL COSMO DAY, the Cosmopolitan Foundation Canada Inc made its third contribution to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation in support of Dr. Jean Bouteau. Contributions to the project to date total $125,000.

Unfortunately, Dr Bouteau was not able to join us. However, he shared some words that he wanted extended to the members of CFCI talking to the impact of the funding that we continue to provide.

BETA CELL REGENERATION PROJECT

Clinical Researcher Lead: Dr. Jean Buteau

Please accept my sincere apologies for not being able to attend today’s event.
I have met the Cosmo group during the pandemics, and I only have good memories of that day.

Again this year I wanted to express a heartfelt thank you to the Cosmo group and the incredible donors whose generosity has fueled our research program's progress.

Our project seeks to perform a small proof-of-concept clinical trial to test a new medication for type 1 diabetes that we have discovered in my lab. In mice, our new molecule was able to reverse both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, which is truly exciting. We are extremely optimistic as we are preparing the launch of our clinical trial.

As you know, research dollars are scarce, and this is particularly true for original/early stage study like ours. Without your work and commitment, projects like this one would not be possible and some of our original ideas would thus never come to fruition.
So, thanks to your support, we are able to make meaningful strides in our quest to characterize this new anti-diabetes medication, one that would provide options that do not exist currently to people living with diabetes.

But there is more! Your contribution goes well beyond its monetary value. Seeing your belief in the power of research reminds us why we have chosen this work, boosts our confidence and drives our motivation.

At the risk of repeating myself, I am grateful for your invaluable contribution. Thank you.
